2006 Award Winners

The Saratoga Builders Association, Inc. announced the winners of the 12th annual Showcase of Homes on Friday night at a special reception.  A panel of 10 judges, comprising professionals in the fields of architecture, contracting, interior design, landscaping, and real estate toured each of the nine homes.  Awards were given seven categories in two price ranges, under and over $700,000.  The big winners were Capital Construction, Inc. taking eight first place and runner-up awards in the over $700,000 price range while Vasiliou Homes, Inc. in the under $700,000 price range took seven of the awards.

Capital Construction, Inc. won for its house at 22 Kendrick Hill Road, Louden Ridge development in Wilton.  Builder Frank Laskey’s “green” and healthy living house combines ecologically friendly construction methods and materials with the latest technology.  Once again this year, Vasiliou Homes’ builder Christine Zientak garnered the largest number of the awards in the under $700,000 price range.  Her New England cottage-style house at 35 Rivercrest Road in Rivercrest in Moreau, is the least expensive house on the Showcase tour.

Approximately 130 realtors also toured the houses and voted for their favorite home in each of the two price ranges.  The Realtors’ Choice Awards were presented to Capital Construction, Inc. for a house over $700,000 and Belmonte Builders, LLC won for a house under $700,000.

“All the builders should win an award this year,” said Kate Ferris, coordinator of the Showcase of Homes.  “It’s a fabulous collection of houses with some different designs from past years and lots of interesting building materials.  The interior decorating and the landscaping are all wonderfully creative and beautiful.  People will really enjoy seeing what this year offers.”
